Closing Procedures

As you all know, the Governor of Nevada has ordered the shutdown of all “non-essential” businesses for a minimum of 30 days, which includes all casino properties.  The updates on COVID-19 are changing daily as well as its impact across our local community and our country.  We continue to closely monitor the situation and follow the latest advice from the CDC and our local and state public health officials.  Because of this mandate, the South Point Hotel/Casino was closed to the public starting at midnight last night.

Michael Gaughan has always valued his employees above all else and despite these recent developments is doing all he can to keep as many people as possible employed or compensated.

Several departments will work through the closure.  Of course departments like Security and Surveillance will be required to keep the property safe. Other departments will work to accomplish various projects around the property as well as offer our guests very limited services.  Guests will be allowed to enter the building between Noon and 8pm to cash out Tito Tickets, Sports Tickets, Race Tickets, or Club Points.  They will also be allowed to deposit into their Race or Sports Betting Phone Accounts.  Those guests should access the property through the main Valet Doors.

All employees coming to the property will be expected to park on the 2nd level of the parking garage and enter the casino via the guest elevators adjacent to Silverado Steakhouse.

During this time the EDR will be closed, however, the Coronado Café will serve as the EDR and be available only to employees who are currently working.  In addition, the Gift Shop will remain open to provide an opportunity for our on-duty employees to buy some essential grocery items without having to visit local stores.

You can go to www.southpointteam.com for updated information.  Also on this website, you can enter your name and email address which will give us the ability to communicate information via email as well.

Thank you again for your commitment and understanding.
